The FAA requires all recreational RC flyers to have UAS registration on any drone or aircraft weighing more than .55 lbs. (8.8 ounces). The registration number is to be displayed on the exterior of the airplane. Additionally, effective June 2021 all recreational flyers must pass the TRUST exam and have a copy of the certificate in their possession while flying. A recent Club survey indicated that there were several members that were not up to date with these requirements. I urge all Club members to take the time to obtain these certificates to avoid any future problems. We recently heard of an RC flyer belonging to a Central Valley flying site that was approached by the FAA and found to not have the TRUST document and the field was temporarily shut down. The UAS registration and the TRUST exam details are available on line and through the AMA website. Thanks, Tony Gallo
