Thanks to President Tony Gallo’s efforts, SLO Flyers AMA #161 has been granted FRIA status by the FAA. This means all RC aircraft operations at the EFR will not be required to have an onboard ID module. And as before, all pilots are still obliged to observe the maximum altitude of 400 feet above ground level and see-and-avoid full-scale aircraft.
Please keep in mind that all RC aircraft operations at locations other than a FRIA site will still have to comply with the onboard Remote ID module by March, 2024.
